It's a new era in fashion-there are no rules. It's all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together.
It is so amazing what can be done using a t-shirt pattern. I am a fan of Beaute J' adore's blog. She inspires me like no other. She is so creative and out of the box with her style and she doesn't abide by any rules. She encourages me through her work by challenging me to think outside the norm.
I had an event this past weekend and I needed a dress or I should say I needed something to wear! So I started searching around and saw that Nikki (Beaute J'adore) had made this dress that I thought was so cute. I tried my hand at it and I love the results. I will be making this again in a solid color and a little less snug (Lol)!
Pattern used: Vogue 8840 view B
Fabric used: Brocade (lightweight) purchased from Joann's last year.
Here are the following alterations:
I added 11 inches to the length of the skirt and I went out about 4 inches on the sides so that it would have a flare. I did not want a straight look for this dress.
I added pleats on the front and back of the dress. Forgive me I did not measure initially. I believe my pleats were about 3 inches wide at the start and then 2 to 1 1/2 inches as they went down into the waist and the small of my back.
I use black bias tape for my neckline and I hemmed the arms and the bottom of the dress.
This is the pattern that I used. This pattern is out of print however it is available still at www.Mccallpatterns.com
This is the finished dress and the shoes were purchased from Macy's.
